Privacy Policy

Last updated [DATE]. Version 1.0.

This page explains what this site collects, why it collects it, who else sees it, and how to make us delete it. It is written to be read rather than to be skipped.

The short version. Reading this page anonymously requires no cookies and sends nothing to anyone. Nothing about you is measured until you agree to it. If you buy the book, our payment processor handles your card details and we never see them. We do not sell your data, and we never contact anyone's parents.

1. Who is responsible

The data controller is [TRADING NAME], [FULL POSTAL ADDRESS]. You can reach us at [EMAIL] for anything on this page, including requests to see or delete your data.

2. If you only read the page

Loading this site sets no cookies and makes no third-party requests. Fonts, images and styles are served from our own domain specifically so that your IP address is not passed to Google or anyone else before you have agreed to anything.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention. That is the only processing that happens without your agreement, and its lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site up.

3. If you agree to cookies

We ask once, in a banner, and we treat declining as final. Nothing in the advertising or analytics categories loads unless you accept.

CategoryWhat it doesSet without consent?
Essential Remembers your cookie choice so we stop asking. Stored in your browser, not sent to us. Yes — it exists only to record your preference
Advertising The Meta pixel and Google Ads conversion tag, which tell those platforms that an ad they served led to a purchase. No
Analytics Aggregate counts of pages viewed and buttons clicked, so we can tell which parts of the page people actually read. No

You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings, which makes the banner appear again.

4. If you buy the book

Checkout is handled by [PAYMENT PROCESSOR, e.g. Gumroad], who act as the seller of record. They collect your email address, your card details and enough location information to charge the right sales tax or VAT.

We never receive or store your card details. What we receive is your email address, the country you bought from, and the fact that an order was placed, which we need in order to deliver the file, honour a refund, and keep the accounting records the tax authorities require.

The lawful basis is performance of a contract: we cannot sell you a book without an email address to send it to.

5. Email

Buyers receive a download link, and later a short message if the book is materially updated, because that is part of what was bought. We do not add buyers to a marketing list, we do not send a sequence, and we do not sell or share the address. Every message has an unsubscribe link.

6. Who else processes your data

Some of these are based outside the UK and EEA, chiefly in the United States. Where that is the case, transfers rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, as applicable.

7. How long it is kept

8. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or hand it to someone else, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Ask at [EMAIL] and we will answer within one month. We will not charge you and we will not make it difficult.

If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to your own national supervisory authority if you are in the EEA. You do not have to raise it with us first.

9. Age

This site and the book are intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children, we do not advertise to anyone under 18, and we have no direct-message, forum or community channel of any kind. If you believe a child's data has reached us, write to [EMAIL] and we will delete it.

10. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top changes and the cookie banner is shown again. We do not quietly widen what we collect.
